Cyber security strategy for life, not just Xmas - Cribb Cyber Security

With Christmas now looming, shopping is sure to be high on the agenda this week. Indeed, it has been for many of us for the last few weeks. As such, online retailers have been busy refining their cyber security strategy to ensure they are ready for a higher volume of potential threats. But cyber security is something to be prioritised as a general rule, argues CRIBB’s Patrick Carolan.

Are you cyber security ready?

Before we go any further, here are some basic questions for you to ponder:

  • Does your organisation have security policies in place?
  • Are there security-related processes and procedures to follow?
  • Do your staff know about the policies and procedures?
  • Is there regular training provided?
  • Are you ready to deal with a SAR* if one arises?

According to Patrick, if the answer to any of these questions is ‘no’, then now is as good a time as any to change that. “The experts at CRIBB help organisations large and small with their security efforts. “We are an official certification body and can help with Cyber Essentials, Cyber Essentials Plus, IASME Governance and more.” CRIBB provides Data Protection Officer (DPO) services too, and we are particularly proud of our Cyber Security Ready packages – read more.

Patrick continues: “It is essential for any business dealing with data to at the very least have some data protection knowledge. “Depending on the amount of data, and the nature of that data, you may also need to pursue certifications. We’re here to help, so do reach out and we’ll take the necessary steps with you.”

The importance of a good strategy

If upon reading this you are now wondering how strong your Cyber security strategy is, do get in touch. It is amazing how many organisations do not take security seriously. It needs to be a priority, as the number of attack vectors and cyber criminals are both rising consistently. We’ll let Patrick have the last word: “Perhaps the first step to take is to realise that you are a potential target. Once you accept that, then everything else will follow.”

We would like to take a moment to wish you all the very best during the Festive Season!
